Kanimozhi's NGO received donations from telcos

Tamil Maiyyam, an NGO associated with DMK MP and Tamil Nadu chief minister Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi, received donations from telecom companies that won 2G licenses, a media report said today.

Tamil Maiyyam, an NGO associated with DMK MP and Tamil Nadu chief minister Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi, received donations from telecom companies that won 2G licenses, a media report said on Wednesday.

Tamil Maiyyam was raided by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in December 2010 in connection with the 2G scam.

The CBI and the ED are now probing whether the NGO was used as a channel for 2G bribe money.

The report says that the audited balance sheets of Tamil Maiyyam which reveal direct payments by telecom operators to the NGO especially in 2007 and 2008, a period when the 2G telecom licenses were awarded by the telecom ministry headed by A Raja.
