Train services between Kanpur and Delhi have been completely disrupted since morning after overhead wires snapped near Shikohabad Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh.

According to a railway spokesperson, the services came to a halt since 7:30am as the overhead wires broke after a high tension cable running above snapped and fell on it.

Several trains, including the Rajdhani Express trains from Howrah and Patna have been held up mid-way, the spokesperson said, adding, work was in progress to repair the wires.

The incident has come at a time when fog has crippled train services in parts of north India, leading to several cancellations since the last fortnight.
