Kapoor told neighbours he is a cop

Kapoor reportedly drove a motorbike with a Delhi Police sticker and often took droppings in cars that had beacon lights. He even had wireless sets and Delhi Police uniform, informed his neighbours at his Madangiri house in South Delhi.

His landlord Charan Singh shared that Kapoor refused tenant verification saying he is a policeman hence does not require any verification. When they insisted, he took the form but never returned it. “Initially he made excuses and then claimed to have lost it,” said Singh.

Kapoor had approached Singh through a property dealer in January this year and shifted to the first floor of their two-storied house on February 1. He lived with his wife Priya (22) and six-month-old baby Ujjwal.

Neighbours said Kapoor often narrated stories of raids that he conducted as part of his job. “He would come and boast of seizures of contrabands and alcohol,” added another neighbour, on condition of anonymity.

Kapoor’s claim, however, were not baseless. Sources in police share Kapoor, a one time car thief, was reportedly close to a senior Delhi Police officer and worked as a police informer.

“It was his proximity to this particular officer that Kapoor was never called for questioning when they were grilling all local criminals in connection with the Soumya Vishwanathan murder case,” shared a reliable police source.

Kapoor, a conman, is involved in 12 cases of car theft from posh areas of Vasant Vihar, Lodhi Colony, RK Puram, Hauz Khas and Malviya Nagar.
