The visit assumes greater significance coming in the wake of change of government in Pakistan, a country which has a decisive role in influencing the prospect of enduring peace in Afghanistan.
Karzai is set to meet the Prime Minister to discuss the situation in his country as well as the ongoing reconciliation process with Taliban. With over $2 billion assistance, India is one of the key donors in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
