Kerala, Maha report most swine flu cases

Kerala and Maharashtra continued to be in the grip of swine flu with the two states reporting 16 out of the total 17 deaths due to the disease from across the country. While eight deaths each were reported from Kerala and Maharashtra last week, one was reported from Andhra Pradesh, health ministry officials said.

Kerala and Maharashtra continued to be in the grip of swine flu with the two states reporting 16 out of the total 17 deaths due to the disease from across the country.

While eight deaths each were reported from Kerala and Maharashtra last week, one was reported from Andhra Pradesh, health ministry officials said.

All 330 cases reported during the week are indigenous cases. Swine flu cases have seen an upward surge since the onset of monsoon.

Till date, samples from 14,5820 people have been tested for swine flu in government laboratories and a few private laboratories across the country and 23.1 per cent of them have been found positive.

With this week's fatalities, the total number of deaths due to the disease has reached 1624.
