The victims, identified as Abhilesh from Bihar and Kalu Ram from Uttar Pradesh, were working with the survivor, Gopal, who also hails from Bihar, in H Block when the accident took place around 4.30pm.
“Initial investigations revealed that the basement of the building was being dug up over the past two days and the pit where the labourers were working was around 25 feet deep and eight feet wide,” said an officer.
Loose sand, kept aside on one side of the plot, gave way, trapping the trio under the debris. They were rushed to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital where Abhilesh and Kalu Ram were declared dead. Gopal is being treated for injuries.
