Rajesh Sharma (42), a science graduate from Delhi University, was apprehended last Friday from near Nehru Park in Chanakyapuri when he was allegedly trying to sell a stolen laptop.

A mobile phone stolen from Rabindra Bhawan Library and a stolen laptop were recovered from his possession when he was arrested, Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Shankar Dass said. Sharma is a resident of Burari.

"Sharma used to attend functions at Ashoka Hotel, Rabindra Bhawan and Press Club of India posing as an invitee. As he is in his 40s and well dressed, no one suspected him. He targeted persons carrying a laptop and mobile phones. Whenever he got an opportunity, he would steal the laptops and mobile phones and immediately leave the place," Dass said.

Following his interrogation, three more laptops, a Handy Cam and a Video-Voice recorder stolen from different places have also been recovered.
