Major fire breaks out at central Delhi building

A major fire broke out at a high-rise building in the heart of the capital early on Saturday morning.

The blaze was reported at 5:05 am on the fifth floor of Mayur Bhavan in Connaught Place which houses the Income Tax Office.

Forty fire-tenders were rushed to the spot, fire officials said.

The reason for the mishap was not immediately known.

The building also houses a number of government offices including the Provident Fund Office.
