Deepak Bobal, a resident of Paschim Vihar, was apprehended from Prashant Vihar market on Monday for killing Surender Singh. His body was found in his Moti Nagar house. He was killed on March 27.

DCP (West) Sharad Aggarwal said, “Bobal was angry that his uncle was harassing his mother. Also, he was under debt. So he killed his uncle and took gold and money from his house after killing him.”

“He repaid his debt, bought a house in Ludhiana for Rs 15 lakh and also bought a used car for Rs 2 lakh from the money.”

Police said Bobal became a suspect when, after Singh’s murder, the former went missing from his house. The police later found that he had sold the gold jewellery and left Delhi to settle somewhere else.

The day Singh was murdered, his wife and son had left for Shimla and the accused knew about this, the police said.

Also, the police said the wounds on the victim’s body suggested that the crime was done in rage and that it wasn’t a simple case of robbery.
