Man in police list of top 10 criminals held

Delhi Police have arrested a 28-year-old man whose name figures in the list of top 10 most wanted criminals of Delhi and has 13 cases registered against him.

Police said the criminal, identified as Sanjay Rathi, was arrested from Bawana area of outer Delhi where he had come to kill a person with whom he had a property dispute.

Rathi carried a reward of Rs. 1 lakh on his head. Police are now looking for his associate Pawan Pandit, who also figures in the top 10 list. "With his arrest, 13 cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery and car-jacking have been solved. A 9 mm pistol with three live cartridges and an empty cartridge was recovered," BS Jaiswal, DCP (outer) said.

"We had information that he would visit Bawana to kill Rajender Singh with whom he had a property dispute. After he was cornered, Rathi took out a pistol, and fired on Head constable Shamsher Singh but he narrowly escaped. Another constable apprehended him while Singh snatched his pistol," Jaiswal added.

Among the 13 cases, seven cases were of car-theft. The list of top 10 criminals was prepared after attack on a MLA from Najafgarh, Bharat Singh.
