Man thought dead to unite with family

The youth was found unconscious on January 28 this year at Bisrakh in Greater Noida. The police admitted him to Kailash Hospital with a bullet in his head and was operated upon. His body’s right side was paralysed.

On February 11, the police took him to Balaji Hospital at Kulesra. He suffered complete memory loss and could not speak. His treatment cost spiralled to R2.25 lakh by February 16.

The Noida administration somehow paid the bill and took him to the district hospital, where he could not be treated properly. He was taken to a Delhi hospital but nothing changed much.

The police appealed to local residents to help identify him, but to no avail. The district administration then handed him over to an NGO. “On Saturday, he began talking about his past as he could remember it. He identified himself as a resident of New Kot Gaon in Ghantaghar area of Ghaziabad,” city magistrate Sanjay Chauhan said.

On Sunday, Mohan was taken to his house. His father, Natthu Singh and siblings recognised him. The family had registered a case with local police.

The family will now go to the office of Noida magistrate on Tuesday and take his formal custody. Once, he begins speaking with more ease, police hope to solve the bullet mystery, too.
