Manjunath had allegedly told his parents that he had made it to the coveted civil services examination before killing himself.

The 24-year-old had told his father, a clerk, that he had missed the chance to get into the IAS due to a goof-up at the Union Public Service Commission that conducts the examination.

He was found hanging in an under-construction building in Karnataka's Coorg district, 250 km away from Bengaluru.

Manjunath had all along told his family that he had cleared one stage after another. He had apparently even come to Delhi for the interview with his family too.

Once the final results were declared, Manjunath told them that the UPSC had made a mistake.

His father told police that his son had secured 264th rank in the examination but the UPSC's final list, had someone else's name against his son's roll number.
