The man, already married, got in touch with the woman through a matrimonial site.

The police arrested Yogesh Kumar Garg after investigating into a complaint filed by a woman who claimed that a man cheated her of Rs 3,52,350 after promising to marry her.

“The woman said she posted her profile on a matrimonial site and in June 2010, one Rahul Garg got in touch with her. They met several times too,” said Ashok Chand, deputy commissioner of police (crime).

Kumar then allegedly starrted asking her money on several grounds. Once he took it saying he could get her a job in AIIMS, while another time he told her he lost his belongings in Chennai and needed money.

When she made inquiries, the woman found out his real name was Yogesh Kumar Garg and he was already married.

“Two years ago, his relationship with his wife became strained. He then created a profile on the matrimonial portal and projected himself as unmarried,” Chand said.
