MCD to debut on Facebook

Aimed at launching a public interface to help improve the city’s sanitation standards, the MCD will start its page on popular social networking website Facebook on Wednesday.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD’s) account on Facebook, to be launched by Mayor of Delhi Prithvi Raj Sawhney, will give a special focus on monitoring garbage removal in the city.

“The page will be aimed at monitoring cleanliness and garbage removal in the city. Citizens can also interact with us by uploading pictures, videos or filing complaints about the sanitation issues in their area, which will be addressed fast,” said a senior MCD official.

The locations of 2,500 garbage dumping sites in the areas under MCD’s jurisdiction will be listed on the page. People can register their complaints and suggestions online. Officials said NGOs will also be approached for cooperation and may also contribute in making the capital cleaner.
