Medical aid norms relaxed

The Delhi government has relaxed norms for providing financial assistance to poor patients suffering from life threatening diseases like kidney and liver ailments, and doubled the maximum aid to Rs. 5 lakh.

The Delhi government has relaxed norms for providing financial assistance to poor patients suffering from life threatening diseases like kidney and liver ailments, and doubled the maximum aid to Rs. 5 lakh.

The government in September last year had set up the Delhi Arogya Kosh (DAK) with an initial corpus of Rs. 10 crore. In her budget speech in May, chief minister Sheila Dikshit had announced hiking it to Rs. 110 crore.

The decision to relax the norms was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Dikshit.
