Mehrauli family held hostage at home, robbed
The family of Ghaziabad businessman Aniruddh Khaitan was fast asleep in the dark, pre-dawn hours of Monday when a group of armed assailants snaked up the boundary wall of their home.

In the two-hours long nightmare that followed, the five armed men held the family hostage and robbed them of with cash and jewellery worth less than Rs one lakh.
The incident happened in a posh farmhouse in Mehrauli in South Delhi at 4:15 am. A senior police officer, who did not wish to be identified as he is not authorised to speak to media said: “Khaitan told us that the family was sleeping when the five assailants, who were wearing masks, barged into the farmhouse.”
According to police, the assailants brandished their weapons and took the family hostage.
“They escorted the family to the servant quarters in the farmhouse, where their domestic help, Parvesh was sleeping and locked them with him. Two people kept a watch on the hostages while the others ransacked the house,” said the officer.
After the robbers fled, Khaitan, who runs Ishan Public School in Ghaziabad, made a PCR call and informed the police about the robbery.
Police said the assailants were familiar with the plan of the house.
“They knew that the gardener came at six in the morning. So they fled from the house a little before six. They also took the Honda City car of the victim,” added the officer.
The police said that while leaving they also told the victims that they are taking away their car and would leave it near Mallu Farm.
The police found the car later at the exact spot that the assailants had told them.
Khaitan was at his farmhouse with his wife, three-year-old daughter and a guest, when the incident occurred. On the basis of the complaint, the police have registered a case and have initiated investigation into the matter.
A team of fingerprints expert along with a Dog Squad visited the spot. Further investigations in the matter are on in the matter.
