Mercury down, but still near 42 degree in Delhi

The maximum was down from yesterday's 42.1 degrees, while the minimum was recorded at 29 degrees as against 29.5 degrees a day before, the MeT Department said.

Today's maximum was six degrees above normal while the low was eight degrees above normal.

The humidity oscillated between 21 and 40 per cent during the day.

The weatherman predicted partly cloudy sky for tomorrow with maximum and minimum temperature likely to be at 41 degree Celsius and 29 degree Celsius, respectively.

The city has received light rains yesterday bringing down the temperature.

The capital has been experiencing heat wave conditions for the past few days with the maximum touching a 52-year-old record at 43.7 degree Celsius three days ago while the minimum touched a high of 42-year-old high of 30.6 degrees on Sunday.

Last year, the maximum temperature in April had touched 43.5 degrees. The all-time record for April was on the 29th day in 1941 when the mercury touched 45.6 degree Celsius.

Delhiites also experienced unusually hot days last month, which the MeT Department said was the second warmest March for the city since 1901.
