Metro funding: GDA agrees to give Rs 400 cr
The Ghaziabad Development Authority has agreed to divert around Rs 400 crore to fund the second phase of Metro extension in the city. Peeyush Khandelwal reports.
The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has agreed to divert around Rs 400 crore to fund the second phase of Metro extension in the city.
It will do this in case the state government rejects their proposal of providing 50% funds for Metro development from Dilshad-Garden to Arthala (near Mohan Nagar).
"Out of the total cost of Rs815, the authority will make the 50% contribution in case the state-government rejects the 50% funding sought from it recently," said Narendra Kumar Chaudhary, vice-chairman, GDA, in its board meeting held on Monday.
In a recent meeting held between GDA, Municipal-corporation, UPSIDC, Awas-Vikas Parishad and Ghaziabad administration officials, it was decided that 50% of funds would be sought from the state government and rest would be shared by the remaining agencies.
