Minor raped by neighbour

A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped her by her neighbour in Nihal Vihar, west Delhi. Police said the accused, Dinesh, allegedly raped the minor thrice since April 10.

Police said the girl's family initially chose to remain silent about the incident, citing social stigma. They mustered courage to inform the police only on April 23. Dinesh was living on rent, on the floor above the victim's house. According to police, the victim, eldest of four siblings, was first assaulted on April 10.

“The family reported the matter to the police as a case of molestation, initially. But a medical examination of the victim at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital confirmed sexual assault,” said V Renganathan, ACP (west). Dinesh has been arrested.
