Most of the victims of a stampede in a government school in north-east Delhi on Thursday died due to suffocation and head injuries.

"Most of those who died in the incident lost their lives due to suffocation and head injuries," a senior official at Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in New Delhi said.
The five girls who died have been identified as Lalita Nagar, Mamta, Ayesha, Asha and Afroz, hospital authorities said.
They were studying in different classes in the Government Senior Secondary School in Khajuri Khas.
27 other students were injured out of which the condition of six is stated to be "very critical", they said.
GTB Medical Superintendent OP Kalra said, "Five students are on life support system while others are relatively stable and conscious and are being attended by neuro-surgeons and orthopaedic surgeons.
