According to the police, Rani Rohra (42) did not want her only son Mohak Rohra (18) to go back to Dubai to pursue a course in engineering.

They said to stop her son from going abroad, she had even hidden his passport and important documents, including air tickets. Mohak was about to leave in a few days.

"Mohak is already pursuing an engineering course in Dubai. He had come home for winter vacation on January 9. Rani wanted Mohak to stay back but he wanted to at least finish his course," said a senior police officer.

On Thursday, Rani hid her son's documents and had an argument with him. Her husband Sunil Rohra also asked her to give back the documents. Sunil owns an electric parts factory in Mundka.

The police said she hung herself from the ceiling fan. "The help found her body and alerted other family members," said a police officer. The family took her to Bhatia Global Hospital where she was declared brought dead.

The police were conducting investigations to rule out any foul play.
