“I did not say much as the farmers have already taken to the streets,” Yadav said after meeting the PM.

The son of RLD chief Ajit Singh and MP, Jayant Chaudhury, said “we demanded the introduction of the lapsed Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill, 2009 in Parliament.” Ajit Singh said his party would organise a gherao of Parliament on August 26 over the Bill.

The meeting is being seen as a move by the opposition parties in UP to mount pressure on the Mayawati government.
