The Mumbai-Delhi route has always been a cash cow for the railways with passenger volumes swelling every year.

Now, Northern Railway has launched another Special Rajdhani train from New Delhi to Mumbai Central to run twice a week. It will depart from New Delhi every Tuesday and Saturday.
The train - a clone of Rajdhani expresses - will take around 20 hours to travel the distance.
Before this, the railways had introduced three Rajdhani Special trains this year - two from Hazrat Nizamuddin and a weekly one from New Delhi.
“The pressure on this sector is increasing. This sector is important for the business traveler as much as for tourists,” said a senior Northern Railway official.
This year, the Delhi-Guwahati route, one of the longest sectors of the railways, had a Delhi-Guwahati Rajdhani bi-weekly special train that ran packed to brim.
“We were encouraged by the response as we knew there was always takers for this kind of a product.”
