The nation on Sunday fondly remembered its first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his 43rd death anniversary.

Rich tributes were offered at Shanti Van, the memorial to the departed leader situated on the banks of river Yamuna.

Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Congress President Sonia Gandhi offered floral tributes at the memorial where an all-religion prayer was organised.

Several programmes have been organised across the country to remember Nehru on Sunday.
