NDMC proposes to hike Taj Man Singh hotel’s licence fee
With the one year lease extension given to Taj Man Singh Hotel expiring in October, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Wednesday passed a proposal in which the licence fee for the period of extension has been put at 17.25% of the hotel's gross turn over or R21 crore, whichever is higher.

The decision was met with protest from council member and BJP leader Karan Singh Tanwar who said that with limited time left for the one year extension to expire, and no report from the financial consultant appointed by NDMC, the municipal council was only trying to pass time before seeking another similar extension for lease.
On October 10 last year, when the 33 year lease of the hotel had expired, and NDMC had, on that very day, renewed the hotel's lease for a period of one year in the absence of any contingency plan.
