The accused, Rakesh Boyet had allegedly pumped in Rs 13 lakh in the purchase of application forms under the reserved category through ML Gautam, a former DDA clerk who has also been arrested.
Police said Boyet is also facing a dowry harassment case where he is accused of torturing his wife to death. “When his in-laws read an advertisement in a newspaper that he is wanted in the DDA scam, they handed him over to the police at Rohini court,” said Amulya Patnaik, Joint Commissioner of Police (crime).
Police said the accused was declared a proclaimed offender in the case and advertisements had been published in various newspapers. “He was aware of the entire scheme and had actively participated in it,” said Vivek Gogia, additional commissioner of police (EOW).
