Dr Chaturvedi’s association with RML has been since 1980, when he joined the central government hospital as a cyto-pathologist.

In 1993, he became the head at the department of pathology as soon after he was promoted as the medical superintendent at RML.

Dr A K Agarwal, the head of the department of medicine at RML, was made the dean of the new institute.

Dr Agarwal has also spent most part of his professional years at RML.

The national Capital region’s first PGIMER at RML was inaugurated in February this year by then Union Health Minister Dr Anbumani Ramadoss.

Over 60 crore was spent on the project, which took less than two years to complete.

“We have filled 35 of the 70 post graduate and super specialty seats so far. We will get more students by the end of the next academic year,” said Dr Chaturvedi.

The swank building of the centre is spread across an area of 24,000 square metres.
