No fire-crackers after 10pm on Diwali: Delhi govt

In an effort to cut down pollution this Diwali, the Delhi government today decided not to allow bursting of crackers after 10 pm and sought help of police to enforce the decision.

At a meeting, Delhi's Environment Secretary Dharmendra asked the police and deputy commissioners of various districts to strictly enforce the decision.

He said teams from the department would also be deployed in various areas to check bursting of fire-crackers after the deadline.

Action under the Environment Protection Act would be taken against the violators, he added.
