Nursery admission: Centralised form for EWS category

This time, there will be a single form for admission to all government-recognised Delhi schools. Delhi education minister, Arvinder Singh said, “Keeping in view the problems faced by students belonging to the EWS category, the Directorate of Education will issue a common form for this category for nursery admission in all government-approved public schools. Earlier, separate admission forms were issued every year by each public school.”

Students will be able to download the admission form from the website of the Directorate of Education. “We will also try to make the form available in the offices of education directors and in schools as well,” Singh added.

The move comes as a breather for the anxious parents of this category. Singh also announced that the guidelines for the admission will be issued next week. The admission process for nursery classes will be finalised by March 31 next year. The admission forms will be issued between January 2 and January 16. The decisions were taken in a meeting regarding the guidelines of nursery admission on Thursday.

Singh also reiterated the fact that all public schools are under the obligation of putting aside 25% of their seats for the weaker section and impart them free and compulsory elementary education.

“A complete list of admission and vacancies regarding the admission of students belonging to EWS Category has to be sent to the Directorate of Education by all public schools by March 31,” Singh added.
