While the power department reported a cut of up to one hour, residents claimed that outages lasted more than two to three hours. Areas affected included Darya Ganj, Jama Masjid, Mayur Vihar, Patparganj, Khajoori Khas, Welcome Colony and Sonia Vihar. The snag took place between 1 and 2pm. The Delhi Transco Limited blamed it on the illegal construction in Sonia Vihar.
