Doctors at the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here said he remains "critically sick". Chances of his survival are bleak, according to sources at the hospital.

Sanaullah had been brought to PGIMER in an air ambulance after he suffered serious head injuries in an attack by an Indian prisoner, who apparently wanted to avenge the brutal killing of Indian death row convict Sarabjit Singh in Lahore' Kot Lakhpat jail.

On Saturday morning, officials from Pakistan high commission met PGIMER officials. As per the evening medical bulletin, 52-year-old Sanaullah had metabolic changes and abnormalities in coagulation -- process by which blood forms clots. PGIMER spokesperson Manju Wadwalkar said the conditions were being taken care of by specialists. "His blood pressure had been going down, so a third medicine had to be added," said Wadwalkar.
