Around 25,000 allottees of the residential scheme, who were given plots in Sector 18 and Sector 20, were worried as the under-construction expressway was the only link road.

While the expressway is expected to begin service from the end of 2011, the possession of plots were scheduled for 2013. The 165-km link road will connect Greater Noida to Agra. “As the authority has started the construction of a parallel road, we hope to get toll-free connectivity when we shift to our houses here,” said Arvind Majumdar, one of the allottees.

Sector 18 is around 18 km from where Noida-Greater Noida Expressway meets the Agar link road near Galgotia college. On the other hand, Sector 20 is 20 km away from the same. The college lies 2 km ahead of Pari Chowk, the entry point for Greater Noida.

For a toll-free pass, one will have to cross through an underpass at Galgotia College and take the parallel road to reach Sector 18 and Sector 20. Many residential, institutional and commercial establishments are projected to come up along the Yamuna Expressway.

Parallel service roads will benefit these areas too.

"Around 20 kilometre parallel road construction work will be ready by September 2011 before the start of Formula 1 racing. Our motive is to provide free connectivity for sectors being developed along the Expressway. Sector 18 and Sector 20 will have 120 meter wide road at its periphery. Parallel road width is 30 to 60 meter depending on the availability of land,” YK Bahl, additional chief executive officer of the YEA said.

On one side around 40% work has been completed. The construction of the 120-metre wide peripheral road will start in next few months.
