Patidar case: CBI sends reminder to Maha govt
The CBI has sent a reminder to the Maharashtra government, seeking its sanctions to prosecute two former state ATS officers for their alleged role in the abduction and disappearance of Dilip Patidar, a witness in the September 2008 Malegaon blast case.
The probe agency had around three months ago sought the state government’s nod to prosecute them.
“We have sought the Maharashtra government’s sanction to chargesheet two then ATS officers — an inspector and an assistant police inspector. We had sent the request over three months ago, but the sanction hasn’t come yet,” said a CBI source.
An ATS team, which included the two officers, had picked up Patidar on the night of November 10, 2008, from his Indore residence and brought him to Mumbai allegedly without seeking permission of the local police or courts, said the source. A week after Patidar was picked up, he went missing from Mumbai where he was allegedly in the state ATS’s detention.
