A pilot was reportedly pulled out of his car and assaulted on a busy road in east Delhi on Tuesday morning in an incident of road rage. The victim, a pilot by profession, had accidentally brushed his car against an Indica car in Patparganj.
The incident occurred around 8:30 am on Tuesday near Balco Apartments in Patparganj when the man, identified as Anil Kumar Malik, was on his way to Mayur Vihar.
When Malik reached a bus stop at Balco Apartments, an Indica bumped into his car. The Indica bearing a Haryana registration number was reportedly overspeeding.
“After hitting my father’s car, the man in the other car stopped and started abusing him. He was in his early twenties and was speaking in a heavy Haryanvi accent,” said Kanika Malik, the pilot’s daughter.
She added that as soon as her father rolled down the car windows, the unidentified man forcibly took out the car keys and started abusing him. She said that when her father tried to call the police the unidentified man hit him on his hands. “The driver then went to his car and brought out piece of wood. He started hitting my father with that. He even broke my father’s spectacles. Soon a crowd gathered at the scene and someone called the police,” she said.
Police said that a call was received at their control room around 8:30 am “We gave all the necessary details including the registration number to the police,” she said.
