PM join in Raksha Bandhan festivities

PM Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur joined the Raksha Bandhan festivities when children from some schools tied rakhis on his wrist.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur joined the Raksha Bandhan festivities on Saturday when children from some schools of the capital tied rakhis on his wrist at his official residence.

Singh distributed sweets to the children of the Society for Rehabilitation of Physically Handicapped, All India Balmiki Samaj and some schools.

Greeting the people on the occasion, the Prime Minister said in a message that the festival was an occasion to uphold the traditional values of the country's culture and acknowledge and celebrate the role of women.
