PMO seeks 100-day action plan from ministries for new government

The Prime Minister's Office is believed to have asked ministries to chart out their principal agenda for the first 100 days of the new UPA government, which is set to begin its second innings this week. A dossier on the key targets set by individual ministries and departments would be ready even before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is sworn in for a new term in office.

Shortly after being elected as leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP), Singh said, "I will ask every Minister to set time-bound targets for implementation of our election promises and the various programmes and policies of each ministry."

Singh further said there would be a quarterly review of the performance of each ministry.

The Congress in its election manifesto promised that its government would bring a National Food Security and provide 25 kgs of rice or wheat to the poor at Rs 3 per kg per month.
