“The religious ceremony was performed to keep evil spirits away from the premises. A temple is also being planned inside the police station. Changes are being made according to vastu shastra preachings,” said SHO Singh.
The police station has seen eight suspensions and the transfer of 14 SHOs in four years. On Friday night, a gardener at Galgotia College, who was caught stealing, attempted suicide in the lock up. He died on Saturday. SHO Amardeep Lal and another policeman were suspended.
Since the police station was set up in 1997, 35 SHOs have been transferred. Twenty-five of them were transferred or suspended in less than 5 months. Not a single SHO has completed a full tenure, of more than 11 months.
SHO Alok Sharma was considered a super cop and encounter specialist. He was dismissed from service after three ragpickers went missing mysteriously from the Kasna police station in 2004. It was alleged one of them had died of police thrashing while other two were killed to eliminate witnesses and their bodies dumped or burnt somewhere. Till date, the bodies have not been traced.
