Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee will discuss the government’s strategy to counter opposition onslaught at his unscheduled meeting with PM Manmohan Singh on Sunday morning in New York.

Government sources said Mukherjee’s meeting with Singh was slated to take place on Sunday at 8.30pm IST.

Mukherjee refused to comment on the political fallout of the finance ministry’s note on 2G spectrum allocation. Mukherjee told HT that he first wanted to speak with the PM: “If he agrees, I will speak with the media.”
