A group of residents met chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday and demanded that the original name, which was in use for decades, be restored.

“We are shocked and extremely sorry to find that the name of the Press Enclave Road that was in vogue and popular for decades in Saket was suddenly replaced,” read a memorandum submitted to Dikshit by the Press Association Cooperative Group Housing Society.

Som Sapru, president of the association, said the chief minister too expressed “shock and anguish” when the delegation informed her about the change in name of the road.

According to the association, the chief minister has asked the officials to examine the issue seriously. “She has assured us that the original name of the road will be restored,” said Sapru.

The residents of the colony in their memorandum said no public notice was issued before the change of name. “We are clueless who changed the name of the road overnight,” it said.
