Yashveer Singh (50) was gunned down by his two younger brothers — Dharam Pal Singh, Rishi Pal Singh and Sonu Singh, a cousin, on Sunday morning in Kavi Nagar.

The reason for the same was a dispute related to the division of Rs 2 crore, received as compensation for a piece of land.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) A.K. Vijeta, the victim was going to market on Sunday morning, when the three men shot him multiple times with country-made pistols and fled the spot.

"Singh sustained bullet injuries and died. There was a longstanding dispute among the brothers over the division of Rs 2 crore, which their father had received two years ago. Panchayats were also held to pacify the brothers but it proved to be futile. A case has been registered and we are searching for the accused," Vijeta said.

In another similar instance, 60-year-old Ved Pal — who was about to receive compensation amount, was allegedly shot by his relatives near Sahibabad Railway station early on Sunday.

He was rushed to the hospital, where his condition was stated to be critical, police officials said.

Government Railway Police (GRP) officials said that no arrests have been made so far in the case and that the accused are still absconding.

In a third case, a retired MCD employee, Prakash Chand, was stabbed to death by unidentified men at his residence in Vijay Nagar area late on Saturday night, police officials said. "The accused are yet to be identified," Vijeta said.
