Property tax scheme
The New Delhi Municipal Council has come up with a one-time settlement of dispute scheme for property tax payers. It has offered to give rebates ranging from 5-10 per cent if the entire tax due is paid before March 31.
The scheme would cover cases where property tax is outstanding for a period up to March 31, 2009, due to pending grant of vacancy remission, decision in remanded cases, cases pending in the court and any other dispute for fixation of ratable value.
After settlement of dispute or the disposal of these types of cases a rebate of 5 per cent tax up to Rs 20 lakh of demand and 10 per cent on above Rs 20 lakh of demand would be available. But there is a rider. These rebates would be applicable only if this amount is paid by March 31, 2010.
