Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil briefed the Cabinet Committee on Security chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and also apprised them about the steps being undertaken to control the situation in the state, sources said.
Besides Singh and Patil, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Finance Minister P Chidambaram, National Security Advisor MK Narayanan and Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta were present at the meeting.
Patil has also shared the agreement that was going to be discussed between the state Government and the Sri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti under which a possible solution to the land row was arrived at, they said.
The situation in Kashmir and continued attempts of infiltration by militants from across the border were also discussed during the meeting.
Union Home Ministry officials gave a detailed briefing about the arrest of secessionist leaders in the valley and the necessity for imposition of curfew in Kashmir.
Ahead of the CCS meeting, Patil had held a detailed meeting in his ministry this morning where the situation in the state was discussed.
