Traffic on arterial roads leading to and from India Gate Circle moved at snail's pace till late evening. Major traffic disruptions took place at Pandara Road on the C-hexagon that soon blocked the entire circle, said traffic police officials.

"The traffic jams were caused because of a demonstration by more than 500 physiotherapists who had illegally assembled to demand a separate regulatory body for them on the lines of the medical and the dental councils," said a traffic police officer. No prior permission was sought for the demonstration. The jam at India Gate Circle was finally cleared around 8pm, said Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (Traffic). VIP roads, including Shahjahan Road, Tilak Marg, Purana Quila Road, Zakir Hussain Marg, Pandara Road and Akbar Road faced major jams on both carriageways till late evening.

"The jam also affected Mathura Road and Mandi House," the official said.
