Talking to mediapersons at Punjab Congress vice-president Rana KP Singh's house here, Chaudhary said, "We have been repeatedly asking the Punjab government to use these funds on improving the health infrastructure and recruiting medical staff."

She said that the Centre was committed to providing assistance sought by the Punjab government in improving the health sector in the state and added that she had convened a meeting of senior state health officials on July 17 in this regard.

The union minister said that the Punjab government must provide incentives and facilities to doctors to encourage them to work in rural health centres.
