The public works department (PWD) started the patch-up job after receiving feedback in this regard from Delhi Traffic Police, which had identified the 31 locations.

According to a statement issued by PWD minister Raj Kumar Chauhan, the department has deployed its staff to take measures to ensure that water flows smoothly to the drains during the next spell of rains.

"Local factors such as polythene and garbage getting stuck in drains play a major role in reducing the capacity of storm-water drains. We have deployed our manpower to take care of such exigencies," Chauhan said.
