A 27-year-old call centre employee was stabbed to death following an argument with his friend over a misplaced mobile phone in southeast Delhi on Saturday, police said.

According to police, the incident took place around 11:30 pm during a party at Rinchin Dawa’s Amar Colony residence on Saturday night.

“The victim, identified as Thapten Dhargyal, a Tibetan, was visiting his friend when he had an altercation with one of the latter’s guests,” said a senior police officer.

Police said Dhargyal had been staying in Delhi since November 2009 and worked at a call centre in Gurgaon.

“During the party, Dhargyal realised that he had misplaced his mobile phone. While looking for it, he got into an

argument with Tashi Pshok (23) which turned into a full-blown fight,” said the officer.

Dhargyal was reportedly stabbed to death by an enraged Tashi during the ensuing melee, police said.

“The victim was rushed to an adjacent hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. In the meantime, we had been informed about the incident and were able to nab Tashi,” the officer said.

Police said the body had been sent to the AIIMS for post mortem and a case of murder had been registered at the Amar Colony police station.
