The lawyer allegedly wrote a letter to Radia threatening to "expose her by sending a letter to the CBI Director," according to a CBI source, who is aware of Radia's complaint.

The source said, without divulging the contents of the alleged threat letter, "The so-called threat does not pertain to the 2G spectrum scam or her role in it."

Radia had sought an appointment with Singh who met her at his office for around 15 minutes on Wednesday morning.

"The Director has not received the said threat letter from the lawyer till now," the source said.

While the CBI and a Radia spokesperson did not divulge the name of the lawyer, when asked by HT, another source claimed he could be from Delhi.

Radia is a prosecution witness in the 2G case. "As of now she is a witness in the 2G spectrum scam case but the probe is going on. If and when we get evidence against somebody's offence we will book the person," said a CBI source.

When asked if she planed to file a complaint about the threat with the police, a Radia spokesperson said, "Not now."

The CBI had quizzed Radia regarding her telephonic conversations over allegations that she could have played a role in granting of spectrum licences to a few telecom companies in 2007-08, due to her proximity with former telecom minister A Raja.
