Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced cash rewards for the railway players who won medals at the Commonwealth Games.

The railway contingent won a total of 25 medals, including 13 golds, at the Games which concluded on Thursday.
"The rewards will be, Rs 10 lakh for Gold Medal winner, Rs 6 lakh for Silver Medal winner and Rs 4 lakh for Bronze Medal winner," Ministry officials said here today.
This will be in addition to the rewards given by Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) which will be Rs five lakh for Gold, Rs 3 lakh for Silver and Rs 2 lakh for Bronze, along with a promotion or increment in service, they added.
Out of the 101 medals won by India in the Games, Railway players have won a total of 25 medals, which include 13 Gold, 3 Silver and 9 Bronze medals.
