BJP president Rajnath Singh on Monday issued a gag order to put an end to out-of-turn statements in favour of Narendra Modi as PM from the BJP's rank. But no sooner the announcement was made, it was violated by CP Thakur and Shatrughan Singh voicing support for Modi.

"I want to humbly appeal to BJP workers and leaders that there should be no statement from them on who will be the candidate for the PM's post," Singh said in a "final appeal". But BJP leader CP Thakur violated the gag order soon after, though claiming the party chief hadn't issued one. Shatrughan Sinha too backed Yashwant Sinha's open support for Modi made days back.
