The body of Singh, who allegedly committed suicide in Tihar jail on Monday, was taken to his native Karauli in Rajasthan after his neighbours at the Ravi Dass Slum cluster warned his family against taking his body there.

The body of the 33-year-old bus driver was offered to a ceremonial pyre at 9:30 am.

“There were several marks of assault on his body which means that he was murdered,” claimed one of his cousins, who did not wish to be named.

He said the family has clicked pictures of his body prior to cremation as proof. It will be submitted to a court to demand a CBI inquiry into his death.
